About Matthew Guerrero

Hello internet, my name is Matthew Guerrero. I was born right here in San Jose California in the year of 2004 on the early morning of April 3. I have lived all my life in this city and have really loved the culture here. I come from both Spanish and Mexican descents and would be the first in my family to graduate from college. I haven't really gardened before but it seems quite relaxing and fun, like something I would most definitely enjoy. From what I do know about gardening I have learned from my mom. She used to garden a lot and would frequently plant new things all the time. She also grew up here in San Jose most her life and actually now we live in my Grandfather's old house. She also taught me a little bit about cooking, but not too much. Honestly the only thing I really know how to cook is eggs. My dad is also REALLY good at cooking and will often cook us Steaks and spaghetti. My favorite snack would be apples because an apple a day keep that dang expensive doctor away...

About Jake Groll

Hello, my name is Jake Groll and I live in San Jose, California. I live with my mother and father and I was born here in San Jose. My mother is half Italian, half German and my dad is half German, half a bunch of western European countries.  My experience with gardening is very limited. My elementary school had a gardening program for students but I can't remember much from it. My mom is someone I believe to be knowledgeable about gardening because she plants all of our agriculture around our house and does a wide variety of plants.

About Colin McCombs

Hello my name is Colin McCombs, and I have lived in San Jose California all my life. My parents lived in Michigan through their child hood and moved here for better job opportunities after they graduated from Michigan State University, and all of my moms and dads family still lives in Michigan or Kansas. Ever since I was a kid I have had a garden in my backyard filled with fruits and vegetables. My parents every year would always make me help them set up the garden and plant the seeds. We would always plant lettuce, many different kinds of tomatoes, strawberries, flowers, basil, and many other herbs. I don't have very much experience with farming but when ever my family and I would go back to Michigan we would help my grandpa plant and harvest his crops from the spring and summer. I really have no knowledge of cooking things from scrap besides cereal, waffles, pancakes, and eggs. Although, my parents are trying to get me the knowledge and help me to learn the recipes to our hom...

About Jesse Zalk

My Name is Jesse Zalk. I live in San Jose with my mother, father, and dog that is cuter then Colin's. The rest of my family lives in Israel, and we visit them around once a year. Sometimes they fly out but very rarely. Most of the time though I'm in San Jose. Gardening isn't a huge part of my life but I definitely have participated in it in the past. In the back yard of our house my mom would grow various plants, such as kale, asparagus, and celery, along with a lemon tree. In the front we grow Asian Pears, which spring ever summer and are very delicious. While we still grow the Asian Pears, a lot of our pseudo-gardens have been abandoned. But the past memories I have growing and watering the plants with my family are good ones. The person in my life that I've always associated with gardening is my mother. It was her idea to start a garden, and was always involved in those things. She was the one always tending to the gardens and such. Now the garden isn't e...

This is where my gardening experience comes from. We re-vamped the garden and cleaned it up so it was fit for growing crops. I had never had much gardening experience before so this was an eye opening experience. I had so much fun going out with my friends every week to garden and learn about our ecosystem. I had the most plants out of all the classes with beets, peas, carrots, tomatoes and a sunflower. After this experiment. i hope to learn more about a plants ecosystem can change and how it adapts and evolves. I also hope to learn more about brussels sprouts in general.
