Blog Post #5: Lauren Shearer (By Colin Mccombs)

For the Story of the Seed project I interviewed my very close friend Lauren Shearer. She talked about all of the experiences that she had while she was working on the project and her thoughts on the project. She learned about the different variables tat need to be considered while growing the plants. The process of a growing plant differs with each plant, if you change pretty much anything when you tried to grow multiple plants. She was amazed at how fast and tall their "Control group" plant grew. It not only went quick, bit also with the right amount of soil;water, it would be healthy. Sadly, what surprised me that shouldn't have, was that the last pot with Dr Pepper did not grow at all. Lauren was forced to stop and think harder when her team had to figure out the watering schedule for our plants. We had to map out the correct days and the amount of water for each pot so that the project would work successfully. Her entire experience of her project made her laugh be...

Blog Post #5 - Kevin West's Seed Story (By Matthew Guerrero)

For our project, I interviewed my friend Kevin West (he's very handsome). He talked about his experiences that he went through while working on his Story of the Seed and all the thoughts that he had on the project. I first asked him what he had learned about while working on The Story of the Seed.  Kevin learned about the biochemical  cycles and how they applied to the plant in the garden. He then when on to say that he started to understand all the materials  needed to keep a plant healthy and grow sufficiently. Then, I asked about the most surprising or amazing things he encountered.  It amazed Kevin at which the speed their plant grew, he had expected his plant to take a very long time to grow but instead his plant grew somewhat  fast. It also surprised him how much time and effort went into growing a plant. The next thing I asked Kevin was about the funniest things he saw, and while there wasn't a lot that he found funny he sti...

Blog post #5 Evan Itow (Colin Sims)

During our story of the seed project, i have learned the impact our plants have on the environment and how they go through photosynthesis and carbon cycles. Evan- What have you learned? I have learned that growing and taking care of plants isn't as easy as it seems and it takes hard work. What surprised or amazed you? What surprised me was how fast the plants grew and how hard it was to keep the plants alive. What made you laugh? All of the jokes my group made and how funny it was when our plant looked pathetic compared to others. What made you pause and think a little deeper? How much the plants have to go through to be healthy and how complicated the organisms are.

Blog Post #5- Cole Miller Interview (Jesse Zalk)

Cole Miller thought that the story of the seed project was a fun and interesting project. He enjoyed learning how plants take place in the water, carbon, and nitrogen cycle. He also observed how the grass competed with his plant for space and water. He also learned about the limiting factors of the plant as well. He was surprised by how fast his plants were able to grow, and laughed when he saw the amount of grass that grew. He also laughed at all of the insects on the leaves. I really had to think about how our plant was able to grow so much in such little time, with all the competition and insects trying to eat it.      But what did I think about The Story of the Seed? I thought that it was a really fun project that made me think, as well as learn. I learned about all the cycles the plants go through, like water, carbon, and nitrogen, as well as how to properly plant a seed. I was surprised by how much our plant grew, considering it grew in such interes...
